Autumn marked by appearances at expert conferences

As a tradition, the 38th Marketinški fokus will be dedicated to discussion of brands and branding. It will feature Valicon’s CEO and partner, Uroš Cvetko, who will speak on the topic »Will the future brand management be more rational than emotional?«. The issue has become especially relevant in the time of the financial crisis, since the crisis facilitated the development of two underlying trends : (i) increased share of customers that make rational purchasing decision (i.e. ones that are maximizing quality / price ratio); and (ii) quality of generic / private label providers of goods and services has increased to a degree where these products and services are (from a customer perspective) no longer differentiated from the traditional brand offering.

Valicon will also be present at the 1st Sales and Shelf Marketing Conference, which will present the challenges and best practices of trade marketing in Slovenia and abroad. Andraž Zorko, partner at Valicon, will talk about the changes in customer behaviour over a longer period of time, which are based on the latest consumption figures review. In addition, another Valicon member will present himself as the speaker. Christophe Pirotte, projects director at Valicon, will present a case study entitled »Me, my Shelf and I« which investigates the so-called "consumer schizophrenia". The study shows that ratio and emotive stimuli work differently when considering purchases and categories at home or when exposed to the shelves and influenced by retail environment.

On 14th October 3rd Strategic Conference of Slovenian Chamber of Commerce will be held at the Congress Centre Brdo pri Kranju, with the Slovenian president, Dr. Danilo Türk, as the honourable speaker. The topic of this year’s Conference will be »Consumer in the centre of changed business conditions – how the dealers are adapting to new situations«. Andraž Zorko, partner at Valicon, and Maja Makovec Brenčič, president of DMS, will jointly present the marketing monitor DMS and talk about Slovenian consumer perceptions in 2009.

Andraž Zorko, partner at Valicon, was also present at the 3rd International Science Conference as a co-author of a contributed paper. The conference, held on 24th and 25th September, was organized by the Marketing Institute at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Maribor. This year’s topic was »Marketing Theory Challenges in Transitional Societies«
