Coca-Cola, Milka and Argeta are the Strongest FMCG Brands in the Area of Former Yugoslavia

Recent PGM research positioned the three above-referenced brands at the top of the market that covers the territory of former Yugoslavia and represents a total of 22 million consumers. Two Slovenian brands, Argeta paté and Paloma tissues, are top among the domestic brands as they rank third and fourth respectively. The two Croatian brands of Vegeta and Cedevita follow in seventh and eighth places, while the first Serbian brand, Smoki, is ranked tenth. Fifteen out of the 25 ranking places are taken by brands from former Yugoslavia, while most of the remaining ten brands are marketed by strong global multi-national companies with long-standing traditions in their respective industries.

Autumn marked by appearances at expert conferences

As a tradition, the 38th Marketinški fokus will be dedicated to discussion of brands and branding. It will feature Valicon’s CEO and partner, Uroš Cvetko, who will speak on the topic "Will the future brand management be more rational than emotional?". The issue has become especially relevant in the time of the financial crisis, since the crisis facilitated the development of two underlying trends : (i) increased share of customers that make rational purchasing decision (i.e. ones that are maximizing quality / price ratio); and (ii) quality of generic / private label providers of goods and services has increased to a degree where these products and services are (from a customer perspective) no longer differentiated from the traditional brand offering.

PGM project news

In 2009 PGM project became present in all countries of former Yugoslavia! In addition to Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and FYR Macedonia we also collected data in Montenegro and Kosovo. The project also made its first steps outside the borders of former Yugoslavia, into Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Romania and Bulgaria. The geographic expansion is not the only change in this year's PGM. The methodology has changed as well.
